Final mixing and mastering with songwriter Erin Stitzel
We are in the final stages of mixing and mastering a new EP by singer, songwriter Erin Stitzel. Produced by Paul Mutzabaugh, this new side features Rich Stitzel on drums, Larry Kohut on bass, Dave Hiltebrand on guitars among others. This is a strong side with excellent musicianship and well storied lyrics. You must check out the snare drum on this record. Rich Stitzel has used a 50 ply snare drum. I did not know that such a behemoth even existed. Although this is not the actual picture you can get an idea of the weight of this snare. Very exciting to hear and mix! I want to see it in person.
Mixing with Robin Dean
Using Cubase and coffee.
I have known drummer, composer Robin Dean for many years all the way back to college at the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. He asked for some ears on a new project he is working on. It is hard to describe the style of the composition but I would say it is a mix of industrial, ambient, noise, and drum and bass. Something along those lines. It has been a pleasure and a challenge to acquaint myself with using Cubase instead of Pro Tools or Logic. All in all a lot of fun thus far. Stay tuned for the final product.
Mastering with trumpeter Paul Dietrich
Paul Dietrich is a Chicago-based trumpet player, composer, arranger, and educator. He is in working on the final masters for his upcoming quintet album "We Always Get There". Check out his public appearances here!

Video Filming for Jack Cassidy
Good friend and trumpeter Jack Cassidy called me in to help out with some video needs for a project of his. Filmed in a classroom at the Old Town School of Folk Music the group consisted of trumpet, tenor sax, piano, acoustic bass and drums. It is always fun to grab the gear and film familiar faces and friends.
